Bal Kishan Gupta, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the company, started his career by joining Employees State Insurance Corporation, an organization established by the Labour Ministry of Government of India and is responsible for running and were responsible for more than 100 hospitals and 10,000 dispensaries throughout the length and breadth of the country for the welfare of labour class population of the country. I joined the organization in June, 1975 and got promotion in May, 1980 and was attached with Medical Commissioner who was responsible for finalizing the annual rate contracts for purchase of medicines with a hefty budget. He was assisting him in finalization of the contracts and get a grip of pharmaceutical business, since around 180 companies were participating in the tenders and representatives of companies used to visit the organization and discussions with them increased my knowledge a lot. On 1st January,1990, he resigned from the organization and joined a team of a liaison company where he was supervising the business and It was a big group by the name Medicamen and we was representing the companies in various Government departments including Ministry of Health, DGS &D, Defence Ministry and ESIC. At that time, our group was considered as No. 1 as far as liaison of pharma business was concerned. Side by side he started distribution of pharmaceuticals in Government and private hospitals under the name of Panchdeep Pharmaceuticals. He also got CNF agency of INTAS Pharmaceuticals and Modi Mundi Pharma both renowned company of India.
In the year, 1994, since the economy was opening, he thought of establishing a pharma unit and did so by establishing a State-of-the-Art Unit in Bhiwari (Rajasthan) with a huge capacity. The company was first to launch Ready Mix product of Ranbaxy Laboratory and M/s Ranbaxy started its generic business from his company. At one point of time, the export of the company was around Rs. 87 crores and domestic business worth Rs. 40 crores. In this company, Bal Kishan Gupta was the key promotor and at a given opportunity, he disposed off his equity and started concentrating on Medicamen Organics Limited where his equity was 100%.
Mr. Bal Kishan Gupta was appointed General Secretary of Indian Manufactures Association having its Headquarter in Mumbai (it is called the voice of Indian pharma) and for the last more than 10 years, he is regularly occupying the position of Vice-President, North. He had been attending various meetings with the top Government of India officials in connection with the pharma policies on behalf of the IDMA. He was also founder Chairman of Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs, initially to cater to the interest of the industries situated in tax free zones of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and now it is catering to the interest of industry throughout the country. At present, Bal Kishan Gupta is advisor to this federation.
Bal kishan Gupta has also been active member of FICCI, and for quite some time. During the stewardship of Shri Bal Kishan Gupta, the earlier company got four times Niryat Shree Award from the Government of India for excellence in exports.
